Tsumairi (妻入り) is the gabled entrance of a shrine or temple, located at one or both of the gabled sides. It is perpendicular to the main ridge of the roof, called the mune (棟) or munagi (棟木).
Hirairi (平入り) is the entrance to a building along its long edge, and is parallel to the mune. This style was commonly found in minka of the Edo period.
